A Busy Week

We’re proud of our graduate! He has worked hard and graduated in 4 years and only took a couple of summer classes. Now, to find a job. We had a pleasant week with my parents and father-in-law. The ceremony was nice, but not too long even though there were over 500 graduates.

It’s been busy around here for several weeks, so only some hand work has gotten done. First up though I need to announce my winner for Maggie’s First Dance bloghop.

Congratulations Janan! I love to applique too. I contacted her earlier this week and she’s going to receive two free patterns from Jacquelynne Steves.  Thank you to all who left a comment. There was quite the variety on what everyone’s favorite part of quilting is. There is only a few more weeks before the first block is available, so sign up now if you haven’t already. Jacquelynne has sent kits for Maggie and I received mine last week. I won it for her BOM online contest last year.  I think she only has a few left so order now if you want one.

Yesterday, I started cutting into Bright Sun by Sherri and Chelsi which is what I’m using for my embroidered version of Maggie. I plan on using the fabric kit to applique Maggie along with everyone else starting in June.

In my last post, I forgot to mention that I was a winner for the 2016 FAL for the first quarter. My prize was a $25 gift certificate from Green Fairy Quilts. Thank you for being a sponsor. I ordered a fat eighth bundle of Valley by Sherri and Chelsi for Moda.

The fabric should be in shops now. It’s beautiful.

Now for the few things I’ve finished over the past week:

I finished April’s Blocks on the Go for Quilts that Grow from the New Hexagon by Katja Marek. I haven’t even started May’s yet.

I also finished the embroidery for April’s “a year in the garden” by Jenny of Elefantz.

I want to get the borders on soon, so I can FMQ it. I have 3 things waiting to be quilted and want to get it all done while my machine is set up for it. Again, I haven’t started on May’s embroidery.

I plan on getting my 1st block finished for Maggie’s First Dance this weekend, but I won’t be able to show it until June. I may also get out one of my garment patterns and start working on that this weekend. I hope you have a fun and productive weekend. Thanks for stopping by.

  2. Those blocks came out really nice! I like to appliqué but I’m still not a big fan of embroidery.
