Hello Everyone! Today is Minis and More Parade day and Sherri and Michele picked a fun mini for this month! Be sure to visit them to see the rest of the parade. If you are looking for the “Save the Bees” final Post, scroll through this one or you can go here.
This month’s mini is by Camile Roskelley of Thimbleblossoms.
When I first saw the cutting directions, I felt a little overwhelmed. There were so many little pieces!
But Camille’s instructions were very clear and told you how to lay out each different unit for sewing. I actually sewed the machine together in an afternoon.
I had to have my cute Aurifil thread on top of the machine, too. I haven’t done it yet, but I might embroider a couple of pins in the pincushion or stick real ones in once I get it hung up.
For the quilting, I used free motion wavy lines in the sewing machine and everywhere else used a straight ruler and ruler foot on my Pfaff domestic.
The machine fabric is from the Midsummer Collection by Connecting Threads that I used in “Save the Bees”. The navy pieces are from the Sunday Drive collection by Pat Sloan for Moda and the other pieces on the machine are from scraps, mostly Bonnie and Camille. I’m not sure what the red border is. I’ve had it for a while and didn’t have the info on the selvage. The background is Spotted by Zen Chic for Moda. I have fallen in love with this fabric line for use as backgrounds. It will definitely compete with Moda Grunge for this purpose. I bought some yardage in the neutral colors to use for backgrounds and embroidery.
I found this piece of fabric in my stash. I think I was going to use it for a sewing machine cover but never got around to it.
I have finished quilting my Swell quilt and hope to start binding it tomorrow, so I should be back soon with that finish. Thanks for stopping by and have a great week!
