WIP Wednesday, January 25, 2023

Hello Everyone and welcome back to Works In Progress Wednesday. Today I have a finish, a new start and a slight change of plans.

I finished Seasons of the Heart – Winter by With Thy Needle and Thread. It’s stitched on 40 ct Vintage Country Mocha 1 over 2. I plan on having a fully finishing day or two next week and this will be one that gets finished. I’ll probably finish it like Brenda Gervais did, as a small pillow.

I started the second design in Hands On Design’s First Frost. I got a pretty good start for only working on it one day. Maybe I can get this one finished this week, too, then I can fully finish both of the First Frost designs.

I’ve continued to work on Wintertide Cardinal by Artful Offerings. I’ve finished the bottom part and now I need to work my way to the top branch. I’ll do that by filling in the snow flakes above the cardinal. Just a little less counting that way. I’m stitching it on 36 ct Snow Day by Luminous Fiber Arts, 2 over 2. I also changed the green branch color from Weeks Bayberry to Weeks Hunter (stem) and Weeks Emerald (leaves). I didn’t have the Bayberry and the chart said it needed two skeins (for 2 over 2 on 30 ct). Neither one of the colors I am using were full skeins, that’s why I went with two colors since I’m stitching it 2 over 2.

I’ve been continuing to work on Let’s Talk Quilting by Hands on Design as my morning stitch but I’m going to change that. My eyes do not like working on the dark fabric early in the morning and I feel like progress has been very slow. I’ll pull something else to work on in the morning and work on Quilting in the evenings. I’m stitching the medium design on Charcoal Lugana, 2 over 2.

I’ve been busy at my sewing machine and am getting ready to quilt the pillow for the Two Color Challenge. To meet the challenge, I need to have it finished by the end of the month. Once I finish it, I’ll plan to fully finish a few of these cross stitch pieces.
