Charity Baby Quilt Finish

Hello Everyone! I hope you are having a good weekend. I’m having a quiet one so far after a very busy week. I went out everyday this past week. Some of it was fun, shopping and the quilt group meeting, other days were groceries and other errands with my husband. I was also participating in a swim challenge for the most distance swam in a week. I swam a couple of extra mornings and pushed hard to get in extra laps for the challenge during my hour swim. I turned the paper work in on Saturday and was happy with my distance. I swam 9.5 miles, double what I usually swim. I’m ready to go back to my normal workout though.

I know last week I said I was going to catch up and at least cut out the past five weeks worth of Moda Blockhead 4 blocks. Well, I got two cut out. Instead I thought it was time to make the Charity Baby quilt that I had been given, all kitted up. It took three afternoons to finish, one to sew the top and two to complete the quilting and binding, but I had it ready in time for our quilt group meeting on Friday. These quilts are donated to the local hospital system and the lady that heads it up for our group, pre-cuts some fabric for different quilts. I grabbed a kit a couple of months ago and the only thing I needed to cut was the batting. I have some of my own fabric that I want to use to make a few quilts over the next couple of months, I just need to get the fabric cut. That seems to be the big hold up in my sewing these days.

As part of my cutting session last weekend, I did cut fabric for some cross stitch project bags. I hope to have four bags in my Etsy shop early this week. This is the back of two of the bags and they both need quilting. After this group, I plan to make a few more bags with some Gail Pan cute summer fabric. If you like Tula Pink, I also hope to get a few bags made with her fabric. I’ve decided it’s better for me to make a few bags at a time instead of making a lot at one time. I mostly do this for fun although proceeds from my Etsy shop did pay for my new sewing table. Now I would like to get a new chair and my son keeps sending me very expensive ones that I should look at.

Speaking of bags, our quilt group workshop on Friday was on making zipper pouches. I make lots of bags but it’s always good to see how someone else makes them. You can always learn. The lady in our group that taught the workshop makes and sells these small bags and some cross over bags on her website. She had samples of her bags and she had a couple where the zipper was installed diagonally, which gave the bag some interest. The group is planning a trip to the Lancaster area in late June. That should be a lot of fun.

That’s it for me today. We are going to see the new Top Gun movie on Monday and I’m looking forward to that. Also my son will be here later this week for five days. It will be nice to see him, but most of the his time will be spent fishing with my husband. I hope you have a great week and thanks for stopping by!

Way to go on the swimming. We may go see Top Gun, that’s definitely a movie to see on the big screen. Hope to catch up soon!
