Hello Everyone! Today I have just a quick quilting update, but I wanted to share my Moda Blockheads 4 block and my nephew’s quilt this weekend.

I finished the Ambience quilt top that I’m making for my nephew’s graduation! After showing it last week with the blocks laid out in two directions, the consensus was that it would look better with the blocks sewed horizontally. I totally agree and like how it turned out. I did have to add a few fabrics from my stash to add an additional block. I had three blocks left to sew, so the new fabrics were spread out into those three blocks, then dispersed throughout the quilt.

The pattern is by Brigitte Heitland, (ZenChic) which is exclusive to the Sew Sampler Box from Fat Quarter Shop. I used the Jr. Jelly Roll that came in the box, Celestial and an older Jr. Jelly Roll, Modern Backgrounds More Paper, both by Zen Chic for Moda. The background fabric is Time Treasures, Mix Basic. I want to use flannel on the back and will visit my LQS this week to see what they have. If they don’t have what I want, I’ll have to order it. It shouldn’t take two long to quilt it because I plan on wavy lines.
Before I started sewing the quilt top together, I made the third block in the Moda Blockheads 4 SAL.

I decided to challenge myself and make the 4 1/2″ finished block. There’s 44 pieces in this tiny little block and I think it looks pretty good overall. Block 4 has been released and has a lot fewer pieces. I’m going to make that into a 4 1/2″ block, too. The fabrics are from older lines of Bonnie and Camille. The center is a Day Sail fabric, one of my favorite lines, but I only have a few pieces of it left.
That’s it for today. I’m posting early so I can enjoy the rest of the weekend with my son. He and my husband have fished every day he’s been here, but we’re going out to enjoy a pretty afternoon and then spend Easter together. I hope you have a happy Easter (if you celebrate) and are able to spend time with family or friends.
Thanks for stopping by!

Beautiful block, Brenda! My hat off to you, for doing such an excellent job on such a tiny block. Your nephew’s quilt is looking awesome. Enjoy your Easter weekend!
