A Short Quilty Update

Hello Everyone! Today I just have a quick update on the Winter Table Runner.

I finished piecing and getting it ready to be quilted last Sunday. I’ve had fun taking my time and quilting it this week. It seems that the past few things I’ve quilted, I just was trying to get through them as quickly as possible. This week I pulled out my quilting books and my quilted quilts to get ideas. I know it’s a small project, but that’s when it’s nice to try out new ideas.

This is one way I try out new ideas, draw on the quilt. Do you see all the different designs I tried out for the sashing? I didn’t use any of them! I like to use the purple air erasable pens when marking quilting designs. The one I use is by Clover. I especially like to use them when I’m quilting point to point. I can mark a dot at the point I need to quilt to without marking the entire line. I also use that method when quilting curves. The points make a nice reference for you eye to follow when quilting.

I did some straight line quilting in the blocks but did not use the ruler foot then, just used marked dots and a few marked lines. It took a long time to decide what I wanted to do in the border and after doing the short side with my regular foot and marking the lines, I thought it was time to change to the ruler foot. The quilting went so much faster after that.

The table runner should be finished soon and I’ll share all the details next week.

Between the snowfall with it’s layer of ice on top at the beginning of the week and the extreme cold this weekend, we were only able to walk once this week. It was a beautiful day though. It was in the mid 30’s when we walked, but warmed up to 50 that day, the only warm day of the week. We walked past the cow field behind the neighborhood and it was so pretty. There has been a layer of ice on top of the snow all week and some of the smaller animals have had a time getting across it. We’ve watched a few squirrels go skidding around on it.

That’s it for today. Have a great week and thanks for stopping by!

Your quilting is very pretty – looking forward to your finished table runner. What a lovely scene with the snow. We are to get a few days of it here now. It does make for bright daylight to stitch in though ;)! Enjoy your weekend!
