Hello Everyone and welcome to Works In Progress Wednesday, my weekly cross stitch update. With the snow days we’ve had, I’ve been able to do a lot of stitching and quilting. It’s been nice. I had a finish this week and am almost finished with another piece. I also have a new start ready to go.

I finished and fully finished Melisa’s Winter Saltbox freebie this week. This is so cute and I think one of my favorites. It’s stitched on 32 ct Winter Wishes from Hand Dyed Fabrics by Stephanie. I think I used all the called for colors except the red. I used the navy from the new table runner on the back.

I don’t have many small pieces to go into my bowl for winter, so this is a nice addition. The larger pillow is Prairie Schooler’s Button Up and the little blue pillow is the back of Christmas Eve Saltbox, also by Melisa. I need to go through my charts and make a list of winter smalls to make over time or find some new ones so I can add them to my decor.

I am almost finished with Prairie Schooler’s December. I just have the snow to fill in and the rest of the border to finish. This should be done in a day or two. I need to plan a day this weekend to fully finish several recent finishes.

I worked on Winter Rose Manor by With Thy Needle and Thread in the early mornings except on the weekend. I finished the top right border and made it down to the start of the house. Now that I’m at the house, I can add a strand or two of the house as I’m working on other portions of this piece.

I started out using DMC 3865 as the white, but as I started stitching the basket on top of the house, I changed it to DMC White. It’s hard to tell in the picture, but I think it will be brighter than 3865. It is hard to photograph this fabric, 36 ct Sparrow by Luminous Fiber Arts, so I don’t know it you’ll see a difference in the pictures. I’ve stitched the snowflakes with 2 strands of 3865 so I’ll see how it looks before I decide if I need to redo them. I’m pretty sure I will not re-stitch the motif on the left side.

Birds and Berries

As per my plans, on Saturday I worked on the Peace On Earth Sampler but I didn’t get that much stitching time in, so not much to share. It was then onto Birds and Berries on Sunday. I did make good progress on it. I finished one of the branches and started on the watering can. I’ll work on it again next Sunday.

Once I finish PS December, I plan to start Seasons of The Heart-Winter by The Blue Flower. It’s the last of a series that appeared in Punch Needle and Primitive Stitcher Magazine in 2021. My plan is to stitch all four of them. They are stitched on 40 ct fabric, so I ordered a few pieces from Colorado Cross Stitcher. Sherry has recently opened her cross stitch shop inside her Loopy Ewe yarn shop. You can find her YouTube videos here. I’m using Fiber On a Whim Stone and the called for DMCs. I will decide which white to use as I go along.

That’s it for me today. We may have more snow on the way later this week. I feel just like a kid waiting for it to snow. I was disappointed we didn’t get the large amounts called for in this last one, but we did get almost an inch of ice on top. After it melted slightly on Monday, we woke up to a sheet of ice on top of the snow on Tuesday. My husband waited until the afternoon to clear the driveway. He’s now been watching snow blower videos. We’ll see what happens with that.

Thanks again for taking time out to join me on my crafting journey!

Love your sweet dish with cross-stitch pillows in there. They are so cute! I’ve started to do a ‘few’ strands of cross-stitching each morning now, and well – it is sometimes hard to stop :)!

Love the progress update. I’m working on some larger pieces so that spring time will be for the smaller projects. I’ve ordered the Winter Rose Manor pattern and Home for the Holidays and I hope to have at least one of the trucks stitched so I can add it to my Christmas display for 2022.
