Hello Everyone! I hope you are having a great weekend! Yesterday, we had a beautiful day with my Dad’s side of the family at the yearly family reunion. It was great to see uncles, aunts and cousins I haven’t seen in years. Now that I’m back in the same state as most of them, it will be nice to make it a yearly tradition.
Late Friday afternoon, I finished the Pumpkin Run Table Runner by Carried Away Quilting. I enjoyed making this table runner and liked Taunja’s construction techniques.
I used fabrics from Fig Tree’s All Hallow’s Eve and Pumpkins and Blossoms fabric lines from Moda. The background is from Timeless Treasure. I changed the colors up for a softer look and also changed the pumpkin direction from vertical to horizontal.
I had fun quilting the table runner using my Pfaff QE 4.0 domestic machine using Aufil 50 wt cotton thread. It was nice to get in the grove of quilting the feathers in the star points.
I couldn’t decide what to do with the outside corners until I watched a recent Angela Walters YouTube video, Tips for Machine Quilting Sampler Quilts. She had quilted something similar in one of the blocks and I knew that’s what this one needed. That video will be a great reference because I have two large BOM quilts to quilt.
The quilting details show up better from the back sometimes. I pieced the back using two fat quarters of the same design, one with a cream background, the other with a light gray background.
I’m glad I was able to finish it for this year’s fall decorating. It looks nice on top of the family cradle with the Pumpkin’s For Sale cross stitch by Little House Needleworks.
This afternoon, I may start sewing together the extra units I made when trimming the star points. Once I get them made, I can see what comes next.
They are calling for showers or rain almost every day this week. Maybe I’ll get some sewing done instead of wanting to go out and play in the beautiful weather! Have a great week and thanks for stopping by.
