Hello Everyone and welcome to Works In Progress Wednesday where I share progress on my cross stitch projects. I hope everyone was able to get together with family this Easter. We spent a few days in Bryson City, NC with our son since he had Friday off. My husband and son went fishing while I got lots of stitching in. My husband and I also went out for a day before my son arrived and we went waterfall hunting. I’ll share those beautiful falls with you later this week.
I’m going to start with Scenic Farm this week. I finished a whole section (from top to bottom) and just love how this looks. I will move over to the right and start a new section there. I think I’m going to take the rest of the week off from working on this so I can work on Salute to Abigail in the mornings. I worked on Scenic Farm a lot while we were gone to get the section finished.
I worked on Abigail a little this week. I’m going to finish the bottom right corner and move across the bottom border. I think I will then go to the left border and work my way down. There is a very pretty urn with flowers in the center that I want to finish up with.
Last weeks progress with a picture of the finished piece.
On our drive down to Bryson City, I started Gathering Berries by Misty of Luminous Fiber Arts. I’m stitching it on her 32 ct hand dyed Sparrow linen using Belle Soie Cranberry by Classic Colorworks. The Belle Soie is a silk 12 ply thread and it’s the first time I’ve used silk. I love the feel of it as it glides through the fabric.
On Thursday, I got a small start on the small in Bloom Chalk Full by Hands On Design and Priscilla Blain. On the way home on Sunday, I worked on the letters. I had excellent light in the car and could really see the holes in the Aida. This is worked on Black 16 ct Aida with the called for colors. I hope I can finish it this week, so I can fully finish it this weekend.
I had another new start, Spring Green Saltbox by Melisa at Pinker n Punkin Quilting & Stitching. I’m stitching it on 36 ct Porcelain, hand dyed linen by Misty. I started it with 1 strand over 2 threads, but I’m not happy with the coverage. I’ve stitched all my other 36 ct smalls with two strands of thread, so I’m not sure why I started with only one. I’m going to go back over what I’ve done with another strand of thread instead of starting all over. I like this fabric, and I only have a little of it left.
I finished my version of Spring Time by Crocette a gogo. I love how this little pink house turned out. I’m going to make a little pillow. I don’t know if I’ll add fabric to the bottom or not. I may just keep it small. This is also stitched on 36 ct Sparrow by Misty using 2 strands over 2. Much better coverage. I noticed while I was pressing Spring Time that I left a flower off the left side tree. I will have to fix that before making the pillow!
I have several things stitched from last year for summer that I want to fully finish. I may take a day this weekend to just work on getting them done.
I hope you have a pleasant rest of your week and thanks for stopping by.
