Hello Everyone! I hope you are having a great weekend. We are enjoying some nice temperatures again after a cold week. I hope that was the end of the very cold. It was 25 degrees when I went to swim yesterday morning at 8:00, but it warmed up nicely later in the day. We are planning on going somewhere later this afternoon, just haven’t decided where yet.
I made good progress this week on the main quilt projects I have been working on.
I finally made the 5 County Fair blocks that I’m trying to get made during the first week of the month. These are made with Fig Tree Christmas Figs fabrics. I now have 15 of 30 blocks complete.
I think I’m going to start making the sashing instead of waiting until all the blocks are finished. You can see that the sashing will take time, too. I can start sewing the blocks together once I have the sashing made.
While I was making the County Fair blocks, I was using the aqua fabrics for my rainbow quilts as leaders and enders. For the rainbow strip quilt, I would sew the 2 1/2″ squares together, then keep sewing those sets together until I had the correct length. I still need to sew the yellow and pink squares together before sewing the rows together.
For the Moda Rainbow quilt, I would add the corner squares to the print fabric, then add the white background block to the finished print unit.
I spent Friday afternoon sewing the first three rows together. I’m sewing them together in vertical groups of three, then sewing those groups across. I think this should come together quickly now.
Since I finished the County Fair blocks, I looked back at the goals I set for this month. I think I will meet all of them if I get the Sunday Best Quilt Sampler out and start quilting it. You can go here to see my quilt top. It’s all basted and ready to sew. I ordered thread a few weeks ago to make sure I would have enough, so it’s ready, now I just need to get my mind ready. I’ll start studying the finished top to decide on how to quilt it.
I hope you all have a great week and some nicer weather. I’m ready to get out a little more and maybe start some planting. I know it’s a little too early here for that, but I’m planning. Thanks for stopping by!
