Hello Everyone! I hope everyone is well. I’ve had a productive week with two finishes, one quilty and one cross stitch, for a total of four Finish It February results.
The first finish is the Christmas Table Runner. I started making the blocks early in December, then ran out of time and ideas on how I wanted to finish the table runner. I finally decided on the square in the square foundation pieced corner stones last week and after making those, it was a cinch to finish the top. By the way, they came our perfectly using the paper piecing method.
I combined the blocks by Corey Yoder and Sherri Falls using fabrics from Corey’s Holliberry line and Fig Tree’s Christmas Figs. The dark square in a square fabric and binding is Bella Solids Etching Charcoal. I like the combination of the red and green with just a touch of the charcoal and gray thrown in.
I quilted all over swirls and feather swirls using 50 wt Aurifil thread in a light green color. It blended very well on the printed fabrics and wasn’t too stark in the solid fabric. I pin basted the runner and before I started the free motion quilting, I stitched in the ditch on one edge of each block to help hold the quilt sandwich together. You can see from the back that I just quilted over those spots like they weren’t there. This was the first time I’ve used an all over design in a long time and it was fun just to let the quilting flow. It’s not perfect, but on the front, all you see is the texture.
I’ll be ready to use the runner next Christmas on either my table or my kitchen island.
I also finished Let’s Talk Winter by Hands On Design. I’m not sure how I’m going to fully finish it yet, but hope to have a better idea on Wednesday’s post.
To recap Finish it February, I had picked four cross stitch pieces to work on and two quilting projects.
I finished two of the cross stitch pieces and both the quilting projects. A productive February, I think. The top left is the Cabin Embroidered Pillow, then Stitchville, and of course Let’s Talk Winter and the Christmas Table Runner.
I’m going to spend some time today making plans for March and kitting up a few new cross stitch projects. It’s going to be a rainy day here, so a good way to spend my Sunday.
I hope you all have a great week and thanks for stopping by.
