Hello Everyone and welcome to Works in Progress Wednesday! Can you believe it’s already August? That means the start of new fall projects. I have a few summer ones I want to finish first, but I plan a few new starts later in the month. I did have one new start already and another finish.

Let’s start with the finish.

Moonlight Visitor by Blackbird Designs is finished! My daughter’s birthday was on the fourth and I finished it on the night of the third, just in time. When she was home earlier in July, she saw me working on it and really liked this block. I got it for her because of the moth, but she really liked the tree.

Now I have finished 6 of the 8 that I am stitching. I used most of the called for colors, substituting for the tree trunk and roof.

The next chart that I will start is Elizabeth Jane for my mother-in-law who passed away about 5 years ago. This chart also includes the last bonus chart that will take up the space for the last two blocks. I think I’m going to take a break from Anniversaries of the Heart for a few weeks and try to finish a couple of things I already have started. I’m stitching this with Olivia and Deborah on Instagram at #bbanniversaries2020.

On Sunday, I got a very small start on Land that I Love by Teresa Kogut. This is really going to be a pretty one. I had a hard time choosing the fabric though. I had heard a few complaints about the called for color with some of the colors not showing up very well so I didn’t want to order that, plus it was hard to find. For a 36 count or lower, you need a half yard piece of fabric for the width. I thought about several others, but couldn’t find a big enough piece. I’ve had this 40 ct Alabaster in my stash for a year now and thought I would try it out with the threads.

I think it’s going to look pretty good. The white I’m going to use is DMC 739 which is more in the ivory tone. It’s not going to be bright, but you can see it. I have never stitched on 40 ct before and wasn’t sure I should start such a nice piece on it, but after the little bit of start I have, I think it will be okay. It’s a lot easier than stitching 1 over 1 on 28 count! Plus I do use magnification. If you want to see what others are doing, there is a hashtag to follow on IG, #landthatilovezoomsal.

I don’t have too many samplers in my stash or WIPS. I have Salute to Abigail by Blackbird Designs that I started in Maynia and Peace On Earth Sampler by Cottage Garden Samplings.

Peace on Earth was my birthday start last year and this is as far as I got on it. I haven’t worked on it in a year. I plan to work on my Samplers a little each Sunday for Sampler Sunday. At least that way, there will be some progress made. I’m sure I’ll be working on Land That I Love more than that though.

This week, my plans are to work on Home Grown and finish Summer Blooms. I also want to start at least two fall projects. I’m still waiting for Autumn Chalk Talk by Hands on Design to get here, but I plan to start it as soon as it does. I have the fabric and the DMC for it.

That’s it for now. Thanks for stopping by and have a great week.

Love what you’ve gotten started on-there is something about the samplers that I’m really drawn to.
