Hello Everyone! Welcome to another Works in Progress Wednesday. We were out of town visiting in Virginia last week and it was hot, but not as hot as it is this week. I think we’ve been a few degrees cooler, 95 vs 99, here in Georgia than in Virginia. I did get a lot of stitching in though.

I think I told you on my last post that I wanted to finish July by Prairie Schooler before the end of the month.

I haven’t finished yet, but I’m close. Maybe I’ll have it fully finished next week!

I’ve also made more progress on Anniversaries of the Heart, Moonlight Visitor, by Blackbird Designs. I’m stitching this chart for my daughter because she likes moths.

I wanted the colors in the wings to be symmetrical. I’m using CCW Cappuccino over dyed floss. I stitched the top wing with one length of floss and the bottom with another length. That way I could start in the same spot for each wing half using two strands from the same length. Does that all make sense? I hope so. Anyway, I’m pleased with the results and this is the first time I’ve tried to manipulate an over dyed thread.

While we were away last week, I started the medium design in Hands On Design, Well Rounded.

I’m working on the Summer group now.

If you look closely at the chart front, I’ve switched the flower color from white to the blue.

I didn’t think the white was showing up enough. I’ve already changed the white from DMC 3865 to Blanc to make it brighter. It looks okay in the picture, but these pieces are very small and once you look at them from a distance, it doesn’t show up as well. I’ll reverse the blue and white in the larger one, too. I’m stitching on 32 ct light sand linen.

Right before we left, I received some happy mail.

I’m really not a sampler stitcher, but Land That I Love by Teresa Kogut really caught my eye. It’s mostly charted with DMC, but there are a couple of Weeks colors that need multiple skeins. Most places that I looked were sold out, but I did find enough at Fat Quarter Shop of the one that needed three skeins. I didn’t want to order from them because their shipping is still delayed, but I did. Since I didn’t just want a few skeins of floss, I ordered the new chart Chalk Talk – Let’s Talk Autumn by Hands On Design. I’m hoping it will be here by early August. I want to stitch all three designs, but I really like the small round one.

Original Design by Emily Hotinger

My daughter decided to visit us this week at the last minute. It’s been nice to have her here. I’ve shown you her embroidery piece before. She’s starting to fill in the sky and I think it just looks amazing! She’s going to keep it in this hoop when she’s finished, so she’s stitching right up to the edge of the bottom hoop.

I hope you all have a great week. Besides spending time with my daughter, I’ll be working on a special project for Jacquelynne Steves. I hope to show you a little peek on Sunday. For now, stay cool and thanks for stopping by.
