Hello Everyone and welcome to Works in Progress Wednesday! I hope you all are well this week. I’ve been out a little more, once to my local quilt shop where we can now go inside (only four customers at a time and with a mask on) and to the Y. The Y is now open with very strict guidelines, but I was able to swim yesterday. I thought my shoulders were going to fall off during the first 10 minutes, but it got better. We’ve been walking about 5 times a week, but I haven’t used those upper body swim muscles at all in the past 11 weeks. It will get better over time, just not as quickly as when I was younger. I hope you all have been getting in a little exercise, too, whether it’s walking or working in your gardens.

Last Friday was my last day for working on Memorial Day by Cathy at Hands on Design for my second Maynia project. I made good progress on it. I’m probably going to run out of the Weeks Grits that I’m using for the white in the flag so I’ll have to switch to 3865. I’m also not sure I’ll have enough of the Weeks Turkish Red to finish all the flags. What I may do is stitch the middle flag in a different blue and red, then the last flag in the same colors as the first. There are a lot of stitches in those flags! But they are very pretty and I’m going to love having this displayed.

My third Maynia start is Salute to Abigail by Blackbird Designs from the book “Sweet Land of Liberty”. I love stitching this one. I’m stitching it on 32 ct Sand Dune by Lakeside Linens and it is so nice to stitch on. There are only four colors in this design. I’m using CCW Cupid as the red and it almost looks like two separate colors. The dark blue is CCW Blacksmith Blue and the light blue is GA Blue Jay. I’ll be using DMC 3865 for the white. I hope to get the top left quarter finished before putting it aside for my next Maynia start, which will be…

… Sweet Land of Liberty from the same book. This one will be stitched 2 over 2 on 32 ct linen, so I hope I can finish it during the week.

I’ve made good progress on Pumpkin Farm, also by Blackbird Designs in the Anniversaries of the Heart Series. This one is for my son Jake. I am using all the called for colors in this design, but three of the browns in are almost the same color, all by Gentle Arts. I am enjoying working with these fall colors after all the pinks in the other designs. I’m stitching along with @pumpkinhollowquilts and @caniopedstitches on IG under the hashtag, #bbanniversaries2020.

I received some new charts and floss last week.

First is the next in the series Chalk Full by Hands on Design and Priscilla Blain. This is another cute jar from the pair. I don’t know if I’ll stitch the jar red or make it blue. I really like the small, too and will probably stitch it first.

Also by Priscilla and her daughter, Chelsea, is Long May She Wave. I thought this one was super cute with the truck and flags. Fat Quarter Shop had the floss pack so I went ahead and got that, too. I’m not sure I’ll be leaving the chickens in. They are cute, but don’t really go with my decorating style. I may substitute flowers for them, we’ll see when the time comes. I would like to start stitching this one soon, maybe in June.

We are going to get mulch today and some flowers to put in my containers so I’ll be busy outside for the next few days. I’m also writing my pattern for the Summer Daisies Quilt so not a lot of sewing going on this week. I will continue to stitch early in the mornings and evenings though.

I hope you all have a great weekend and thanks for stopping by.

I feel like I am SO behind. I have gotten the containers and front bed done; just not much on the stitching front.
