Hello Everyone! I hope things are going well. We’ve been doing the same old things around here, which means not much although we did get the garage cleaned out. It looks better just to get some things moved off the shelves and either into the trash or give away bags. When all this is over, all the donation centers are going to be swamped. I’m thinking it will take two truck loads to give all our things away. We still have some basement clean up donations, clothes and now the garage donations to take.
As I mentioned in the Wednesday WIP update, I was able to get the backing, binding and batting for Summer Daisies through a pick up order at my local quilt shop.
I sent the shop the picture above with a couple of Bella Solids so they could help pick the backing and binding fabric.
I wasn’t able to get enough fabric from Corey Yoder’s Pepper and Flax line but they had her Sugarcreek fabric and gave me a few choices that would work for the backing, so I chose this light gray print. The binding is a medium yellow dot from the Good Times line by American Jane that the sales lady thought would be nice for the binding and she was right.
As you can see, I added the borders and yes, the outside border is fussy cut to take advantage of the beautiful sprig of flowers.
I hang the front and backs off my banisters after pressing them until I’m ready to start basting.
The quilt is all ready to start quilting.
I started quilting yesterday and after getting the stabilizing quilting finished, I started free motion quilting around the applique blocks. So my next few days will be spent quilting, which is something I have fun doing.
I also spent one morning last week working on the mini quilt design using these left over corner squares. I haven’t started trimming yet, but there are 120 pieces. I won’t be using them all in the mini, but I’m going to trim them all anyway so they will be ready to use.
My daughter sent a progress shot of her thread painting hand embroidery. These are all DMC threads, not varigated. I think she’s doing and amazing job!
I finished kitting up my cross stitch Maynia projects and I’ll show you what I plan on Wednesday. Until then, stay safe and well and thanks for stopping by.
