Hello Everyone! I hope you are having a great weekend. It was rainy here yesterday, but a good day to get some things done. I am slowly starting to move things out of my sewing room, getting ready for the new floors to go in. I thought that if I did a little every couple of days, I should have it done in 2 weeks.
This past week I finished quilting the Merry Mini quilt from the Fat Quarter Shop SAL in the summer.
Merry Mini will be my entry into the Minis and More Parade for December. I still have to sew the binding, then it will be complete. I also finished the next two blocks in the Sunday Best Quilts QAL hosted by Sherri and Corey. No pictures of those yet, soon though.
I’ve been doing a lot of cross stitching in the mornings and evenings. About 6 weeks ago, I decided to take a WIP and turn it into a daily 30 (working on it 30 minutes a day) to try to finish it. This has worked well and it has helped me finish several things. In the evenings, I can work on new starts or other WIPs. Since I finished most of my fall stitching, I’m now working on Christmas and Winter. I did fully finish a few ornaments, but they are gifts, so I can’t show them yet.
I’ve been working on the free Chicken Joy ornament from Priscilla and Chelsea. It’s a cute little stitch and is a free chart on Priscilla’s website. I’m stitching on 28 ct Jobalan.
I started Cranberry Christmas by Cathy Habermann. I am using the Sulky Petit threads that are called for and am enjoying working with them. I started with the pillow, but also hope to make at least one of the ornaments. I’m stitching this on 32 ct. Pearl Grey Belfast linen.
I picked these JBW designs up at the Haus Trol in Williamsburg in August. That is a 28 ct Christmas Red linen. The piece shown came in a kit, but I did buy some more from Fat Quarter Shop. I just started stitching Joyeux Noel, but don’t have a picture yet. I’m stitching it 1 over 1 and it is tiny stitching! I think the red is almost as hard to stitch on as the black. I was hoping to get both finished by Christmas, but I’ve worked on it for two days and only got the top border and one sleigh and one reindeer stitched.
I haven’t worked on Jack Frost’s Tree Farm or Farmhouse Christmas since I started the fall stitching. I am making both of these my daily 30. I finished the 4th block on Jack’s, Balsam Fir, and have started another square on Farmhouse Christmas. I really enjoy working on these, but don’t know if I’ll have them finished before Christmas or not. Even if I do finish stitching them, I haven’t decided how to fully finish them yet.
I have kitted up Merry Chalk Full by Hands On Design and Priscilla Blain. I plan on making the small to start with. Those jars can take a lot of time to stitch.
I also picked up A Cardinal’s Carol by Luminous Fiber Arts and Noel by Hands On Design, but haven’t kitted these up.
I would also like to stitch a few of these minis from Prairie Schooler. The good thing about Snowy Nights is that some of the designs can be used all winter.
Well, that’s it for now. Our daughter is coming home for the week, so we’ll be out and about with her. I hope you have a great week and thanks for stopping by.
