Hello Everyone! It’s time for the Minis and More Parade hosted by Sherri and Michele. The theme this month was fall and for my entry, I sent Sherri a picture of the Halloween Wall Hanging from the August Collection for Jacquelynne Steves The Art of Home Club. If you are looking for the Happy Little Things Block 2 and Giveaway, scroll to the bottom of this page or go here. Be sure to leave a comment on that blog post for your chance to win.
I designed and made this fun and “spooky” wall hanging for the club and you can read all about it here. August was so busy since my daughter was home for a week and we were gone for almost a week, that I didn’t have time to make anything new. I did design a mini using Lori Holt’s Autumn Love templates, but it’s still on paper. Not even a fabric pull yet.
So instead of something new, I thought it would be fun to share my own Autumn and Halloween parade of quilts today. These are some of my favorites to make. I think it’s using those warm colors of Autumn that I like so much. Some are very old and I’m not sure what the patterns are and some were made for the Minis and More parade in the past.
So here we go. We’ll start with Halloween.
The wall hanging on the left is one of my earliest quilts. I’m pretty sure it was in American Patchwork and Quilting sometime in the mid to late 90’s. I fused the applique on, then machine quilted over it. No sewing the appliques down for me back then. Also, it was probably one of my first attempts at free motion quilting. I like to hang in on my door on Halloween night. The left one is Autumn Stroll by June Vogltance and made in 2009. It was a kit from Keepsake Quilting.
The quilt is Amanda from the book “3 Times the Charm” by Me and My Sister Designs, 2011. I can’t remember who designed the fabric, probably Deb Strain, but it was one of the first charm packs I used. I don’t have the pattern for the cross-stitch which I made in 2015, filled it with goodies and sent it to my daughter her freshmen year in college. You can see I still had some of the charm squares left in 2017.
That’s it for Halloween. Now for Fall.
Autumn embroideries designed by Jenny of Elefantz from her A Year in the Garden Collection. The first one shows the little background quilt. All were made between August and November, 2017.
The Maple Leaf Log Cabin is one of my all time favorite quilts. The pattern is from American Patchwork and Quilting (don’t know the edition) and I made it in 2009. The pillow is my pattern, Scattered Leaves and Pumpkins from 2017. You can find it in my Etsy shop.
I do have a few more table runners and toppers that I couldn’t find pictures for, plus bags and mug rugs. It was fun looking back at this eclectic group of projects and I’m looking forward to decorating with them this fall. You will notice a lot of the same fabrics showing up in the quilts, especially Sandy Gervais fabrics. I enjoy picking up fall fabrics and adding them to my collection. You never know when you’ll need them.
Here are just a few ways I use them throughout the house. The mini on the back of the bench is Sherri’s Be My Neighbor Mini. I used Sherri and Chelsi Fabrics and I think it fits perfectly with the fall color scheme.
Last year I finally bought a quilt ladder and I love being able to display more quilts.
And here’s a fun little Halloween display I put together on the chest at the top of our stairs last year.
It’s nice that I now have a good record of most of my Autumn quilts. I hope you enjoyed the parade and I thanks for stopping by!
