Hello Everyone! Can you believe that it’s already the end of July! This year has just flown by. At least the weather has been beautiful here this past week and we’ve enjoyed some porch time, coffee in the morning and cocktails in the evening.
I also want to remind you about my 20% off sale in my Etsy shop using coupon code HPL20. I’ve extended the sale through Monday, July 29.
I finished the last two blocks for the Merry Mini Quilt Christmas in July SAL hosted by Fat Quarter Shop. It’s a mystery sew along and the finishing instructions will be revealed on Tuesday. I’ve seen parts of the quilt, so I don’t know if I’ll finish it like they have or not.
I’m using various Moda fabrics from Holly Taylor’s lines. She has a new line out that I saw this week, so some of that may show up in the borders. We’ll have to wait and see how I decide to finish it.
It was Christmas in July at several of the local quilt shops this week. I picked up a few things, some I needed and some just because. Some of the just because fabric is this new Christmas line by BasicGrey. It’s so cute and I can see a vinyl front project bag made from those Santa’s. The grunge fabric is specific to this line and so pretty. The picture doesn’t really do it justice. I went ahead and picked up some yardage because who knows if it will make it into the regular grunge line.
I also picked up these plaids to use for cross stitch finishes. The back green and red are Timeless Treasure fabric, the aqua and black is a Wilmington print and the two plaids in front on P&B Textile fabrics. So many plaids and checks to chose from now.
A few more fabrics and this cute pattern from The Pattern Basket. I picked up the gray dot for the jars, but it may be too dark. I have plenty of scrappy goodness for the trees, though. The red fabric is from the new Holly Taylor line. Like I said, I may
need want a little more fabric from this line.
This was the only fabric I really needed. The top three are for the pillow backs and binding for Sunday Best Pillows and the green stripe is for the binding for the Tree Skirt. See the finished tops here.
I spent yesterday backing and sandwiching the retreat projects. I also needed batting for the tree skirt. I sewed a few pieces of batting together for the pillows, but I didn’t want to do that for the tree skirt because of its size. I also spent some time yesterday marking the tree skirt for quilting. My plan for this afternoon is to get a good part of the quilting finished. The tree skirt is going to by my entry into the Minis and More Parade for July since the theme is Christmas in July and this is the only thing Christmassy that I’m close to finishing.
My plans this week are to finish the tree skirt and write a couple of tutorials for the upcoming Happy Little Things Free BOM that begins next Monday, August 5. Don’t forget about the giveaway that is going on through Monday, July 29, over at Jacquelynne’s blog to kick off the BOM. Leave your comment there for your chance to win this great prize package.
Thanks for stopping by and I hope you have a great start to your week.
