Works in Progress Update

Hello Everyone! I hope all my American readers had a Happy Thanksgiving. We had a very pleasant visit with our daughter home from college for a few days. Only three more weeks until she’s back again for Christmas. We can’t wait. While she was home, we were hoping to do a North Georgia mountain town visit, but the weather didn’t cooperate at the end of the week. But, we had a beautiful beginning of the week.

This is a picture of my backyard this past Wednesday. The leaves were beautiful on our afternoon walk.

Earlier, on Monday, the temperatures were pleasant enough to sit on the deck and do a little binding on the Stitched with Love Mini. The mini is all finished and I’ll share the details about it next week.

I have a few WIPs to show you today.

A few weeks ago on a Friday, I started these three Swoon blocks and finished them on Monday. That was quick for me. I am making the Sweet 16 Swoon blocks by Thimbleblossom. They are 16″ blocks and in the original pattern, there are 16 blocks. I am making 20 blocks and only have 5 more to go! Yea! I started this quilt in January 2017, so maybe I’ll have all the blocks made by the end of January 2019.

I also finished three more Cheddar and Indigo blocks. I’m really going to have to name my quilt, Cheddar and Indigo (C & I) is the name of the fabric line. I have perfected working on the Swoon and C & I blocks together. They both contain very specific units for each block. I chain piece part of the Swoon blocks, then the C & I, then back to the Swoon, etc. This keeps the units separated for each block and helps keep each block separated from each other since the colors are so similar in each group.

I also finished free motion quilting the Moda Blockheads quilt blocks about a week and half ago. I only have the sashing and borders to finish. I decided to put this one aside for now because I want to get the Swell quilt and Winterville quilted as soon as possible. I have marked the sashing, so that will help when I pick it up again.

Speaking of the Swell quilt (another quilt that needs a name), I began quilting this early on Thanksgiving Day before it got too busy. I spent a few hours on it yesterday and today and really like how it’s turning out. I’m using my ruler foot and rulers on my Pfaff domestic to quilt parts of it. It’s much slower than FMQ, but I do like the consistency of it. I hope I’ll be able to share the finished quilt in less than two weeks with you.

I’ve also been working on some embroidery and cross-stitch, but don’t have pictures of any of my pieces. I have discovered FlossTube on YouTube which I guess are all cross-stitch videos.

I saw a design someone was working on called Farmhouse Christmas by Little House Needleworks. This is a nine part series and I ordered all nine and the fabric. If you click the link, you’ll see a picture of all nine as one piece which is what I plan to do. I’m going to start on it in January and my goal will be to make one a month at least. Something new to look forward too.

My plans this week are to continue to quilt the Swell quilt, work on the cross-stitch piece and do a little re-design on the center block for the Cabin Collection for Jacquelynne Steves The Art of Home Club. Jacquelynne has also started a new free video workshop series on Creativity, Embroidery and EPP. You can sign up here if you are interested in them. Oh, and I’m going to be swimming in my second swim meet next Sunday at GA Tech! I’m excited about that, too.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great week!
