Hello Everyone and Happy Easter! I hope you are enjoying the weekend. I finally got home stuff caught up and was able to get some real sewing in this week.
First up, I finished my Moda Blockheads Block of the Week! I had the sashing and rows sewn together before we went on vacation, so I just needed to add the borders. I’m really pleased with this quilt. It has 50 6″ blocks set on point. I like the alternating red and black double sashing rows, too. This is going in my ready to quilt pile which I decreased by two projects this week.
Next up is the Wonky Heart pillow. This is my own design and I used it for the Invisible Machine Applique workshop I taught to my quilt guild. You can see another version here. The white fabric is Paper White Grunge and the binding is Red Grunge by BasicGrey. The heart and border fabric is Love You by Sandy Gervais.
For the cross-hatch quilting, I marked the center line, then quilted 1/4″ on either side of it. I used my Westalee Ruler foot and straight ruler to quilt it. I free handed the hearts in the center of the appliques. I added a heart ribbon candy design in the outside squares.
You can see the quilting a little better on the back. I did see the missed space on the heart and went back and fixed it after I took the picture. I use muslin on the back when I’m making a pillow.
I also like to make and envelope back so I can change the pillows out for different seasons.
I also mostly finished the trees, holly and berry blocks for the Winterville quilt. I have a layer cake of Bonnie and Camille’s Vintage Holiday on pre-order and I expect it sometime in April. I’ll finish up the blocks with pieces of that fabric.
Here is my To Do list for March.
I didn’t do too bad. I finished or worked on most things on my list. I checked number 3 when I meant to check number 4. I did the planning on the setting blocks for the Quilting Life 12″ BOM and plan to cut the fabric this week. I finished the 6″ BOM, but I’ll show it on Monday with the Minis and More.
Happy Easter again and thanks for stopping by.
