Embroidery Hoop Art

Hello Everyone! Today I’m excited to share the Embroidery/Applique Hoop Art that I made for Jaquelynne Steves’ Art of Home Club

I hope you were able to sign up for this wonderful club last week. If not, you can sign up here so you’ll be the first to know when Jacquelynne opens the club for new members again. Each month, Jacquelynne designs a new collection of embroidery or applique patterns and several ways to use them. This month, the collection combines embroidery mixed with a little applique and is designed to be used in embroidery hoops. Hoop Art is very popular now.

I wrapped the outside hoop on two of the pieces with bias strips.

I left the third hoop plain and quilted the piece to show the members a different way to showcase the embroidery.

On the bee project, I embroidered satin stitch flower petals, backstitched a cross hatch pattern in the center, then outlined the center with a chain stitch.

After I centered the pieces in the hoop, I sewed a running stitch about an inch from the hoop on the back. I pulled the thread to gather the fabric, then trimmed the excess fabric. Use scrap book paper to cover the back if you want a more finished look.

As an added bonus, I used one of the designs on a pocket of a tea towel apron I made.

You can find the tutorial for making the apron here. Jacquelynne always has such cute designs, but you need to be a club member to have access to them. If you want to be part of the club, sign up to be notified as soon as the club opens for members again.

We will be traveling soon to see my daughter’s NCAA D2 Conference Swim Meet in the Mississippi Delta. I’m taking my sewing machine with us again this year, because there is not much to do in that part of the country. I hope to finish the snowflake blocks for the Winterville quilt and start and finish this month’s Minis and More Project,
