Weekly Update

Hello Everyone. It seems that I’ve only been able to do a weekly update on my WIP recently. This week I’ve been getting the pattern ready for the Hand Crafter’s Carry-All Basket!

If you remember, I gave the first one away to my friend Joyce at the Lap App Store. I wanted one, too, so I made this one for me following my pattern instructions that I had written for it while traveling the week before. It was a good thing, too. My pattern looked like it was bleeding, it had so much red on it. But it’s finished now, and I’ll have it in my Craftsy shop by the end of the weekend and will have paper copies in several weeks. Stay tuned. Of course it looks great in Bonnie and Camille’s The Good Life Fabric!

Writing has taken up most of my time this week, but I did manage to get Moda Blockhead Block #46-Alternate finished.

Another one with small pieces from Lisa Bongean, the center star is a 2″ square! I’ve had fun making them, but only two more left. Number 47 is out and I’ll make it this weekend.

Later today, I plan on cutting the sashing for my quilt. I’ll divide the blocks into red or black categories, then alternate the blocks in the quilt. I’ve been playing with my new EQ8 for setting ideas. It’s been fun, but like a lot of those things, eats up a lot of time.

I’ve also been working on this Hometown Mini for the Minis and More Parade this month. I am actually half finished with the quilting and will have more on this on February 1.

I don’t think I mentioned this before, but my quilt guild asked me to teach a workshop on machine applique. I’ll be doing that the third Monday in February, so I’ve been planning and writing down a few notes on that, too.

I think I mentioned in my things I want to do this year post that I want to make the Winterville quilt by Camille Roskelley of  thimbleblossoms. I planned the quilt out so I can make so many blocks every month. I’m thinking about hosting a fun sew along here and on Instagram, but I needed to get the pattern finished first. I’ll try to have a post up this weekend about it. It took  a bit time to find the right background fabric (the dark blue with black) and next time I’ll tell you what it is since I don’t have the info handy. If you’re interested, I plan to start in February. I got the PDF pattern at the thimbleblossoms shop, but Fat Quarter Shop has it also. I plan to have the top pieced by June or July. Plenty of time to get it quilted by December.

So I better get going, I have a busy day ahead with cutting and quilting. Have a great weekend and thanks for stopping by.

I would love to make Winterville since winter and snowflakes are a favorite of mine, but I still can’t decide on what fabrics to use for Summerville. Winterville would be beautiful with the navy background and snowflakes! Did you make Summerville and if so, what fabrics did you use? I will be keeping an eye on your blog since I might do it anyways. I seem to get a lot more accomplished when participating in a sew along and it’s so fun to see all the different versions of the same quilt.
