A New Finish-A-Long, Q3 2016

Hello everyone! I hope you are having a pleasant week. We are finally experiencing some cooler weather and I hope it stays this way. I’m tired of 90+ degrees. I wanted to show you a FAL because tomorrow is the last day for this quarter. For the Q3 list, go here.

This is August’s stichery for “a year in the garden” by Jenny of Elefantz.

The border fabric on this one is Chestnut Street by Fig Tree and Co. I liked using this because it had a little gold brown in it. I used two strands of DMC floss for the embroidery.

I free motion quilted it with a light minty green 50 Wt Aurifil thread. I haven’t done much FMQ recently and my swirls are not quite as round as I would like them to be. I’ve got two tops to be quilted so I think I may have to do a little practicing first.

Here it is on the Mini Quilt which is Day Sail by Bonnie and Camille. I may make another background quilt for fall so I can use more browns and golds in the stitchery. I haven’t started September’s so I may put that one aside for now and go onto October.

We are off to Tuscaloosa for my daughter’s first swim meet of the season on Friday. Her Division 2 team is swimming Alabama and Vanderbilt. It will be a good experience for the girls and fun for us. Thanks for stopping by.
